Loving Catholics and Exposing Catholicism
Are Catholics Christians?
When Catholicism is examined in the light of biblical faith, the conclusion reached is unavoidable, and the implications of that conclusion must be honestly and carefully weighed. Many evangelicals may be unsettled that such an inquiry is even necessary, while it remains wholly objectionable to advocates of ecumenical unity—both past and present. In our own time, this ecumenical impulse has taken new form through pro-life coalitions, the growing patriotic and political movements gaining broad acceptance in America, and most recently the widening trust extended to Roman Catholicism by organizations such as Turning Point USA. These developments do not arise in a vacuum, but follow earlier efforts at evangelical-Catholic convergence, including Promise Keepers, Evangelicals and Catholics Together, and Christian Churches Together. In light of this trajectory, this article seeks to set forth a distinctly Christian response to the practical and spiritual consequences that flow from the incontrovertible answer itself.
